Take a Seat People, Take a Seat

No they definitely did not start out looking like this of course. I am so in love with these that if they matched the style table I have in my dining room to redo for my house I would soooooo keep them. My dining room table is another story I won’t dwell on the fact that I purchased it when DH and I were building our current home with the intention of redoing it for our dining room and stored it in the garage of our old house till we moved. So yes I have had it for nearly 2 years and not touched it. I am like the cobbler who’s children have no shoes. Ok back to my chairs……ADD at its finest people.

So I am at the thrift store and I see a set of 3 chairs, I have seen this set for days….maybe a week. I told the guy @ the store I LOVE these chairs and would sooooo get them if there were 4. He tells me – oh there are 4 but #4 is out by the dumpster because the fabric on it was so bad they didn’t think anyone would want it. Oh yeah you’re right no one wants it……GO GET IT FOR ME!! He laughed because he is used to seeing me and says oh yeah you are the lady that saves furniture. Heck yeah!! I was ripping that fabric off anyway.

See the one no one wanted?? Heck I didn’t want the fabric they thought people would want. I already had fabric in mind. Beautiful fabric I picked up at an estate sale where the lady was downsizing and had loads of beautiful stuff- think Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, custom drapes, custom made bedding…..you get the picture. I got a bunch of leftover fabric they had knowing I would use it on something.

I gave these girls a good cleaning with TSP, love this stuff, tightened up a few joints and a sprayed on coat of Fusion Mineral Based Furniture Paint in Coal Black and a wiped on coat of Fusion Tough Coat Sealer in Clear.

Added more cushion, new support strips in the back, 2 kinds of fabulous fabric and some gimp. It’s a labor of love I tell you.

No one would ever know what a seedy background these ladies had in the past. They are all dressed up an ready for the ball. Oh I had a hard time dropping these off for sale but in all honesty I fall in love with all of my pieces. If I kept them all I would open the door one day and a TV crew from “Hoarders” would be there.

If you love them as much as I do and are local they are for sale at Consignment Showcase in Fountain Inn, SC.

You did a great job. I’ve never sprayed chairs, our weather is always so unco-operative, I generally just paint with a brush.

Thank you so much for you kind comments. I just got a paint sprayer and I love it. Much to my husbands chagrin I sprayed them in the garage. I figured I just gave the garage floor a bit of character.

I love a good makeover, and you did a great job on the chairs! My husband hates it when I spray paint our yard–ha ha. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

thank you for your compliment. You should see my garage floor with all the overspray. I figure I am redecorating the garage slowly.
